- 1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary-type passport and in good health both mentally and physically.
- 2.Language Proficiency
- Applicants must meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
- Native speakers of English;
- Internationally recognized English proficiency tests score within two years:

- Applicant whose previous degree is fully taught in English should provide the original language statement and the statement must be on official headed paper.
- 3.Academic Requirement
- 3.1 Applicant need to hold a Master's degree or its equivalent when applying for a PhD's program;
- Graduates who did not receive their degree certificates at the time of application should provide pre-graduation certificates issued by their schools or colleges and personal commitment to prove their ability to graduate smoothly and obtain their degree certificates by the end of July 2026.
- 3.2 Accepted by a prospective professor at Shanghai University
- Choose supervisor online when choosing a major in the online application system and get accepted by a prospective professor.
- Please note that it is not required to choose supervisor for the programs of School of Economics,
- School of Management. The School will arrange soon after registration at Shanghai University.
- 3.3 Relevant undergraduate academic background is required,with GPA 2.5 or above(4-Point GPA System);
- 3.4 Students applying to programs of arts must have relative academic background and submit a portfolio. Please refer to detailed application requirements under the program introduction on application website.
