East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) is a public university in Shanghai and one of the first specialised legal academies founded in the People's Republic of China. It was created in June 1952 when the law, politics and sociology departments of nine institutions, among them St John's University, Fudan University, Nanjing University and Soochow University, were merged on the former St John's campus.
