Jilin University is a comprehensive national key university in Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province in north-east China. It was founded in 1946 as the Northeast College of Administration, took the name Jilin University in 1958, and reached its present scale in 2000 when five separate institutions - including Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, Changchun University of Science and Technology and Jilin University of Technology - were merged under a single administration.
