- You must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport and an education equivalent to Chinese high-school graduation or above; former Chinese citizens who acquired foreign nationality, or those born abroad to a Chinese parent, must meet Ministry of Education document Jiaowaihan [2020] No. 12. Chinese-taught programmes require HSK 4 with 180 or above, or one year of Chinese study at XISU with a passed exam; some majors require HSK 5 with 180 or above. Applicants whose Chinese is not yet at the required level can apply to the '1+4' preparatory programme and enter the degree after passing the entrance assessment and reaching the required HSK level. Under Ministry of Education rules all bachelor's applicants must take the CSCA Chinese and Mathematics tests (Chinese Language and Chinese Language and Literature: Mathematics only; for Chinese Language a valid HSK 4 exempts the Chinese test). Applicants under 18 need a guardian's guarantee, and shortlisted applicants take an interview or written test.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form with detailed blood test (valid 6 months)
Certificate of no criminal record (notarised Chinese or English translation if in another language)
